The toilets are perma-culture self composting,
and due to the exhaust fan, never smell. We do ask that nothing
but human waste is placed in the toilets. Sanitary waste can
be disposed of in the bag/bin provide please. You will find
a compost container for kitchen/food scraps;
we recycle everything so please help the garden patch!
POWER
The Adjinbilly Turbine, which is powered
from the water in Adjinbilly Creek, generates
12 volt power for lighting. As there is limited
storage capacity at each cabin, you will need to be aware
of what lights are on. If you have all the lights on at once
they will dim and eventually run down.
There is at this stage no 240 volt power for microwaves,
videos or television. There is a phone at
the office should you wish to contact the outside world (PPST!
Your mobile won’t work here!)
WATER
Adjinbilly Creek provides the water to each
cabin, and is gravity fed via a pipe some 700 metres up towards
the cliffs. The extra tap above the sink provides tank
water for drinking and cooking if you prefer. All
rainwater tanks are fitted with a special ‘rain’
gutter cleaning pipes which ensure that the water stored in
the tank is clean.
When using the hot water, ensure the hot
water tap is turned on first and allow for the water to regulate
and become hot. Adjust the temperature with the cold water
as required.
WOOD
Each cabin will have a supply of wood for the wood burners.
If you require more wood during your stay please help yourself
to the wood pile from the green wood shed situated below Mavis.
The fire will stay on all night if you have a good fire with
some hot coals, extra wood placed on the coals and then turn
the burner to low. (There is a slide control on the left of
the burner) When relighting your fire, it is easier if you
remove the ash from the burner. There is a bucket provided
for ash, and Keith will remove it at the end of your stay.
If you are using the common area for a bonfire or barbeque
please use the wood supplied at the site and not the split
wood for the cabins.
